Ihad never cooked for two before. I prepared the evening meal as I would have for myself, I just made more of it, adding some dried spices and herbs that Iâd collected in the warm season, and making sure it was hearty and flavorful for Savannah. I meant what I said about her not being a burden, and that she would have food, but she had a pointâI would have to collect more food, which meant preparation during the warm season. But I would make it work.
I paused cutting a thick root into small pieces as the water boiled.
But what about the others I hunted with? I didnât know how they would react to Savannahâs appearance. Weâd never discussed what would happen if a newcomer arrived. Especially not a female newcomer.
I frowned as I added the roots to the soup pot. What if Savannah preferred one of them over me? I knew she wouldnât live at the snowy peaks with Nâolc, and Giblin, the Wilkat warrior, was surly and certainly older and stuck in his ways, but Birk⦠He was younger, and not unappealing, I supposed. His species had the same shape I did, but he was covered with fine silver scales. He certainly was not as enormous as I was. I unwillingly played that scenario over in my head. If she preferred to live with a different male, I would have to accept that.
But I wouldnât like it.
I was growing more possessive of her by the minute. A primal voice inside of me snarled, You found her, she is yours to keep.
But I had been in that very position on my home planet of Loc-4. There, I had not been given a choice in whom I would mate with, how I would spend my time, and whom I would kill. I had chosen a prison colony over that life, and I would not subject Savannah to that.
I added dried fungus and two different kinds of meat to the soup, stirring thoughtfully.
Savannah would have to live with one of us. She may have been able to light a fire with a bit of warped glass, but she would not be able to defend herself against the fierce beasts that lived in these lands, or procure the food necessary to live. If she did not want me, I would understand. And if she did not wish to mate with me, Iâ
No. I was getting far ahead of myself. I had just found the female. Who was to say she would ever want to mate with any of us? Who was to say she even had a cunt? Her species might mate completely differently. She had breasts like females of my species did. I could feel them against my chest when I carried her to my home. As for the rest, I didnât know.
All I did know was Savannah was a guest in my home and we would figure out the rest as we went. But there was no denying it, my cock tightened whenever she was near.
